Just as the world would not be the same without the #1 pollinator, the honey bee, it would not be the same without the people that have made nursing the #1 most trustworthy profession over the last 20 years. I believe that nurses are important to the society that we live in today. As nurses we should be proud of what we have accomplished and be willing to help and promote other nurses.
Bee Kind
Who should we be kind to? Not just our patients and families, but especially our coworkers. Not everyone has a great day, every day, when we go to work. Learning to understand and support others when somedays we are barely able to keep a smile on our own face will show your true character. And someday, maybe a coworker will return it to you.
Bee Happy
Being happy when everything is falling apart around you is hard. It takes all of our energy to put a smile on our face for the next patient and not let our real feelings show. Taking a few deep breaths prior to engaging in their care can help. Patients are usually already worried about being in the hospital and seeing a smiling and caring face can help gain their trust and respect.
Bee Amazing
Honestly just being a nurse can be amazing. We often get so caught up in all the trials of the day that we forget the good that comes from it. We touch someone’s life by helping, comforting, and giving encouragement as needed in addition to what our job requires. While everything might not have turned out perfectly nursing is not an easy job, but it can be rewarding.
Conclusion
According to a study from the University of Vermont, most nurses’ favorite brew – coffee would have a huge decline if it wasn’t for the birds and the bees. Bees contribute to the world by just being themselves. Nurses also contribute to the world by just being ourselves. Not only when we are working but in everyday life. So, by just being yourself can we continue to make nursing the most trusted profession for years to come.
